Pranayama is a very powerful breathing exercise. Let us try to understand how does Pranayama differ from normal breathing. Remember number of breathing and our life time are inversely proportional. So, the point is we need to reduce the number of breathing. On an average if we breathe 15 times pre minute the question is how can we reduce this number. During our normal breathing we breathe in and breathe out. We don't hold the air inside. In Pranayama, we hold the air inside our lungs for few seconds and give enough time for the oxygen to be absorbed. In this process we increase the time taken for one breathe and reduce the number of breathing per minute without compensating (In fact increasing) the volume of oxygen that we supply to our body.
Assume that to do one Kumbagam Pranayama it takes 1 minute. So, in one minute instead of doing15 breathings, we do only one and save 14 breathings. Let us say on daily basis we practice Pranayama for one hour. In that one hour instead of 900 breathings we do only 60 breathings and save 840 breathings. In one month we would be able to save 25200 breathings. As per Yoga Shastra an adult breathes 21600 breathings per day. So, the math is when we do one hour pranayama continuously for one month, we save one plus day of our life time in one month.
If you ask me GV, What is the proof that it would work and how do we know that it has increased? Then my answer is, it has worked for me and many others I know of and the proof is increase in the length of our life line in Palmistry. If you are asking for any ETA to see the difference, it would be 5 years.
Let us say we have been practicing Kumbagam Pranayama continuously for 10 years. Now, what we have done is trained our lungs for the last 10 years to breathe one breathing per minute which had been doing 15 breathings in the earlier years. And the result is, change of course! Now, the change in lungs system will direct the change in the heart beats. What I mean by that is even when we are not doing Pranayama our normal breathing process will change to 30 breathings per minute instead of 60 breathings. For this change, the lungs would demand 10 years of training. Let us assume an adult at the age of 30 years start doing Kumbagam pranayama for 10 years. Lets say that he is blessed to live for 100 years. Now from his 40th year he has reduced his breathing by half. That means in the rest of his life time of 60 years he has saved 30 years. Result is, he has to live for another 90 years. Right?
Having seen the difference between our normal breathing and Pranayama and have known how does Pranayama help us to increase our life expectancy, let try to explore the other benefits of continuously practicing pranayama for long years. For example 10 or more years.
It is always better to practice Pranayama in Lotus Yoga Posture. When we do Pranayama for one hour keeping our back straight, we force our spinal cord to undergo a rhythmic vibration. Over a period of continuous practice of Pranayama, this rhythmic vibration would start to generate a kind of energy at the bottom tip of our spinal cord. This is what we call as the holy Kundalini Energy. This Kundalini energy is a bless for us. We can get a lot of benefits from this Kundalini energy. For example it is this Kundalini energy that help us to erase our Karmas.
The Kundalini energy we developed will have the capacity to upgrade the quality of our Pituitary hormone. When the quality of our Pituitary hormone gets improved, our thought process improves and slowly we humans elevate and transform ourselves towards God or Goddess. The other benefit we get out of Kundalini energy is our Biomagnetism. Kundalini energy compliments us always with Biomagnetism. More the Kundalini energy better our Biomagnetism levels are. This Biomagnetism is a self medicine for us and with this Biomagnetism we can cure other's ailments and diseases. For example we know that Jesus Christ used to cure others just by touching them. That is because of Jesus Christ's level of Biomagnetism. And if Kundalini energy is to do with Pituitary Gland, Biomagnetism improves the quality of our Pineal Gland. The improved pineal gland hormone will increase our antibiotic and immunity level.
We would be able to identify a true Yogi or Yoga Guru by their Biomagnetism level. We should be able to feel strongly their Biomagnetism when we go near by them or touch them. Better the Yoga Guru they are stronger should be their Biomagnetism levels.
The other benefit of Pranayama is the Bioelectricity that our body gets. Our Life force is placed at the center of our heart that helps the heart to pump the blood. When we do Pranayama, our Life force gets strengthened and our heart functions improve a lot. We need to understand that Life force and Soul are totally two different things. Lifeforce is the energy required for us to be alive. Soul is actually our consciousness with all the recordings of our previous births. The improved Bioelectricity in our body also helps to improve the functions of our kidney. Yet another benefit of practicing Pranayama regularly is purification of our blood. Pranayama have the power to purify our blood. When the number of Pranayama crosses certain level, our blood gets heated up and all the impurities in our blood would get consolidated or quarantined and will form as small bump and would break and thus the impurities will go out our body. Also Pranayama over a period of time will have the power to change our blood group if required.
The other part of our body that gets immense benefit from Pranayama is our brain. Our brain is always in need of Oxygen. When we hold the breathing inside our body we give enough time for the oxygen to be absorbed in the blood. When Oxygen rich blood travels to the brain, the brain gets a lot refreshed.
