010 - Athma
Listen to the excellent speech of my Guruji Sri Gnana Joadhi Sampangi Swamigal about Athma. Swamiji was saying, When the dead body of some one is taken in the street, the Athma would go along with the body and would try its best to enter into the body because of the body interest. But it can not enter into the body.
We think our body is We. But actually our body is the container of our Athma. Our Athma is the container of our Paramathma. So in one body we actually have three bodies. The three bodies are based on the three types of mind we have and its qualities.
Physical Body
It is the visible body and is made up of blood, flesh, bone, nerves and other parts. It is connected with the Conscious mind which is responsible for Desire, anger, dislike, jealousy, enemity, selfishness, ungrateful, pride, lowliness, ungenerous, enjoying or experiencing through the five senses, walking, talking, laughing, eating, sleeping and functions mainly for bodily pleasures. These are the Rajas qualities of mind and of the Physical body. This body and the associated conscious mind is also destroyed during death.
Flash Body or Athma
It is an invisible body and is the soul or Athma which resides within our physical body. During its existence in human body all that was cherished by way of Knowledge, education, fine arts, fasting, Yoga Sin, and blessings all are registered to form the soul. Though the body is destroyed after death, the registered facts in the sub-conscious mind cannot be destroyed. They exit from the human body and goes to the World of Souls which is 4 big rings surrounding a big black hole in the other part of the universe. The Athma or soul is awarded with one of the rings based on its karma and need to spend its allotted time there. The first ring (which is far away from the black-hole) out of the 4 rings is kind of what we call as Hell. The Athma would be born again with its same registrations carried along and according to its deeds bears a body.
Pineal Body or Paramathma
This body is also an invisible body and a kind of management representative for the Athma. It is associated with the super conscious mind and attains excellence with registrations of excellent behavior, profound knowledge, practice of Yoga, meditation and Samadhi. It is very firm with divine powers. When the Athma moves out the body after death, the Pineal body also travels along with the Athma and ensures the Athma reaches its right destination in the World of Souls and then separates from Athma. When its time for the Athma to take re-birth, the pineal body joins with the Athma and forms as an embryo in a woman. The main function of the pineal body is to monitor what the Athma is doing and make the necessary registration and make sure the Athma gets back what it did to others.
Man lives with the mix of these three minds. But the point is which mind dominates the other. For example, a normal person would be dominated by the conscious mind and lives with its Rajas qualities. But some one who practices Yoga and has attained a particular stage would be dominated by the super conscious mind and there would be a big difference between his thoughts and the one who lives more with the conscious mind.
Our ancient Indian saints have told a lot about Athma. Particularly a great saint called Sri Meikandar has written a book called Siva Gnana Bhodam with Tamil verses on Athma and my beloved Guruji Srila Sri Gnana Joadhi Sampangi Swamigal has written the required explanation for all these Tamil verses in his book called Siva Gnana Bhoadam.
Lets consider a scenario to understand the concept of Athma. Lets say for example there is a girl called Deepa Apeeda and lets say she was shot dead at the age of 40. After her death, her Soul or Athma would move out of her body along with its Pineal body. Right? Based on this scenario, we can have a list of questions.

- Physical Body or Visible Body
- Flash Body` or Subtle Body (Athma)
- Pineal Body or Enlightened Body
- Physical Body or Visible Body - Conscious Mind - Cerebral Brain
- Flash Body` or Subtle Body (Athma) - Sub-Conscious Mind - Cerebellum Brian
- Pineal Body or Enlightened Body (Paramathma) - Super Conscious Mind - Medulla (Medulla Oblongata)

After her death, her Soul or Athma would move out of her body along with its Pineal body. Right? Based on this scenario, we can have a list of questions.
- Who is Deepa? The body or the Soul?
- Lets assume Deepa takes a rebirth. What is Deepa’s age? 40?
- What happened to her Athma when she was killed?
- When she was shot, she would have struggled with that shooting pain..Who felt the pain? Her body might have the shooting wound. Would her Athma also have the wound? What abt her Parmathma..? Because all the 3 were staying together.. Right..?
- Now, after her Athma is out of her body, if further shooting happens on her body or some one cuts her body into pieces, would there be pain..?
- Does that mean our body is the container for our Athma..? Or a kind of jail for our Athma?
- We know the colour of our Body. What is the color of Athma and Paramathma?
- We have stomach and other glands and we get hunger. Does Athma get hunger? Take the same example. For Deepa's body, would there be hunger..? It is the same body which had been eating 3 times a day. Right..? Now if the body is preserved well, Will it get hunger even after 3 months..? Stomach is there. all the glands are there. Brain is there. Doesn't that mean that some thing is out of the body..? the engine..?
- The eyes are there in the body. All the nervous system, related brain parts every thing is in good condition. But can the body see things now..?
- The body has Eyes, Head, legs , hands ..etc. Does Athma and Paramathma have them?
- We move by our legs. How does Athma move? Can it move faster than the body movement?
- The World of Soul is far away from earth and in the other part of the universe. How does Athma travel to that place..?
- If a particular Athma knows that, it is being taken to hell, Can it try to escape on its way to its jail or Athmalogam?
- Lets say Deepa had a son. Lets assume Deepa is reborn in another country. What is the relation between Deepa's son and the newly born Deepa? Both are there in this world now. But What is the relation between the two? So the relation is between the body or Athma?
- Is it mandate that Deepa need to be reborn as a girl or She can be born as a boy or Transgender..?
- Why there are 4 rings? What is the difference? Who or What decides where the Athma has to land?
- How is Paramathma different from Athma?
- With our body we weigh 40 or 50 or 70 Kgs.. etc. What is the weight of Athma?
- What decides where and for whom Deepa has to be reborn?
- When does Athma enter into embryo? First day? first month? 10th Month?
- Does the Mom know that an Athma has entered into her embryo? Is there a notification?
- Is it like, before the Athma enters into the embryo, only the container for the Athma is getting ready?
- What is the role of Paramathma when the Athma is inside the Embryo?
- Can an Athma earn Karmas when it is inside its Mom's Body?
- Can a Mom or Dad take the Karmas of their Kids?
- When is it decided that the Kid would become a King or begger or a scientist or a yogi?
- How is the Kid's life time determined? Who decides that? On what basis? Why some one lives 100+ yrs in the world where as some one dies immediately after the birth..?
